SKILLS MAINTENANCE DATES FOR 2023-2024 Season

Proficiency Day 1: 03 September 2023 @ 8:30am
Proficiency Day 2: 24 September2023 @ 8:30am
Proficiency Day 3: 08 October 2023 @ 8:30am
Proficiency Day 4: 11 November 2023 @ 8:30am
Proficiency Day 5 – ONLY if required: 03 December 2023 @ 8:30am

All Active Patrolling and Nipper Water Safety with SRC will need to complete the 2023/2024 Skills Maintenance theory online BEFORE attending the Proficiency and before the 31 December.
For AWARD only holders there is no theory – just the practical components associated with your award.

Requirements before Attending Skills Maintenance:

  1.  Be a financial member for the 2023 to 2024 season
  2.  Complete the theory component online via your members portal (under elearning)
    Hint: Best to watch video, do rescue & first aid scenarios before theory questions.
    Hint 2: The question on recoil mechanism on IRB – is referring to the motors idle position – not the starter cord

  3. Members 18 and over must hold a current Blue Card (Working with Children)
    If you have turned 18 during the off season or are a new member – you must complete SLSA Child Safe Awareness (CSA) and Child Youth Risk Management Strategies (CYRMS) courses before applying for the Working with Children card. This is a State requirement.
  4. Book into the skills Maintenance session you wish to attend through your SLSA Members account or email: cto@bilingaslsc.com to let John know which session you will be attending

Any Member not proficient by 31 December cannot Patrol for the rest of the season.

You can not just turn up – permission must be sort & paper work generated.

If you are over 18 Years you must hold a current Blue Card BEFORE you can Patrol AND have completed the two Child Safety courses

NEW COURSES

Before you can take part in a Bronze Course or a Surf Rescue Course – you need to complete a pool swim within a given time.
