INFORMATION FOR THE 2024 – 2025 SEASON

The Nipper program is designed to ensure children have fun at the beach while participating in lessons that will provide them with a pathway to become fully-rounded participants in both lifesaving and sports activities. The program includes a wide range of subjects and skills relative to the aquatic environment and prepares Junior Activities members for their transition to becoming senior members and aims to promote the spirit of camaraderie and citizenship within the community.

Members 18 yrs and over including NIPPER PARENTS – Please Note:

Your Membership or Renewal can not be processed until you hold a current Blue Card –
NO CARD NO START
and you MUST also have completed the CYRMS Training and the SLSA  Child Safety Awareness
Course BEFORE attending Nippers.
ALL New and Returning Nippers please make sure you have renewed and paid BEFORE attending the pool swim.

NIPPERS POOL SWIM:
Will be in SEPTEMBER 2024 at the Tweed Heads Regional Aquatic Centre
@ 10am and then back to Bilinga Beach @ 11am for Run-Swim-Run
Remember your goggles & towels – (New families will also need birth certificates/proof of age)
Attending this Pool Swim Evaluation Morning is the preferred method for doing the pool swim.
Please note: The pool opens 10am – so please arrive at 9:45am for pre-requisite check (fees paid & renewal completed)

The Preliminary Skills Evaluations has 3 components – Floatation, Submersion and Propulsion. Requirements differ for specific age groups. Click for the SUMMARY OF POOL EVALUATION FOR EACH AGE GROUP

Unfortunately No pool swim means no Nippers (including beach activities)

If you have already joined and completed your pool swim – there’s no need to go to the Tweed Heads Regional Aquatic Centre.
We’ll see you for your Run-Swim-Run on our beautiful Bilinga Beach  at 11am

All New Families need to complete a joining form online and pay the Membership Fees BEFORE they can do ANY Nippers – including the pool swim. See Members page for more details and “how to join”

Fees for 2024/2025 (no increase)
* Active Members and Active Award Members  = $80
* Associate Members = $90
* Nipper Members = $90
* Nipper Family Members (of 4)  = $320
* Additional Nipper Family Members = $60

AGE MANAGERS – all your age guides and games manuals and forms are now on your portal.
Login to your Members Portal and follow these steps – Library>Member>Club Development>Nippers>QLD

For the 2024 to 2025 season those who hold the Age Managers Award are required to to a SKILLS MAINTENANCE before the start of the Nipper Season

Log into your portal elearning and follow the links to the Age Managers Skills Maintenance
Age Managers who DO NOT hold a Bronze or a Surf Rescue Certificate MUST hold an Observers award.
The skills Maintenance to keep the Observers award current is a demonstration of signals every season before 31 December. Your JAC will let you known the date for this assessment. (Surf Signals Sheet)

THE AGE MANAGERS COURSE
To be an Age Manager the following must be completed
o Member must be registered and financial
o Member must hold a Blue card and completed the Child Safety Courses
o Member must register their interest in a Course found in the members portal SLSQ HUB
How to Enrol in an Age Managers Course
o Member must hold either a current SRC or current Bronze or Observers
Once you have completed the online and other prereqs – a practical assessment is completed on the beach and a third-party report is done by the JAC. The third Party report needs to be lodged before you can be accredited the Age Managers Award.

OBSERVERS COURSE DATES:
All Age Managers who do not hold a Bronze or SRC must hold an Observers Certificate
The course has an online theory section. This must be completed before the practical assessment is completed at the club.
Member can register their interest in a Course found in the members portal SLSQ HUB
Once enrolment is confirmed the online theory component needs to be completed before the practical assessment

CARNIVAL INFORMATION FOR SEASON 2024/2025 (Can change with little notice)
Parents must submit their Child’s Name and list of Events to their AGE MANAGER 14 DAYS BEFORE the closing dates for the Carnival. Ask the JAC for the form.

03 November 2024 U8-U10 Teams @ Pacific SLSC
08 December 2024 Little Mates @ Bilinga SLSC
08 February 2025 Gold Coast U11-U13 @ Bilinga SLSC
14-16 February 2025 PDB Youth Championship @ North Kirra
02 March 2025 PDB U8-U10 Championship @ TBC
PLEASE NOTE – The TWO Carnivals held at Bilinga require Parents to be involved in the Work Force.
You must apply for a role if you want your child to participate.

The Club will pay all carnival fees UNLESS your child fails to attend the Carnival. All costs will need to be reimbursed to the club.

OFFICIALS COURSES
If you like Umpiring – then you will love being an Official at Life Saving Events.
There are two levels for Officials – Core and Technical.
• Core Officials are only able to officiate at Junior/Nipper Events
• Technical Officials can officiate at junior and senior events
