Bilinga Surf Life Saving Club is a small, family-friendly club with a big heart. We’re proudly part of the Gold Coast community, welcoming people of all ages and abilities—whether you’re keen to patrol, support on the sand, help in the clubhouse, or cheer from the sidelines.
Who we are
We’re volunteers who keep Bilinga Beach safe on weekends and public holidays from September to May each year. Along the way, we build skills, friendships and confidence—through patrols, Nippers, training, and surf sports.
What we do
- Lifesaving & patrols: Preventing incidents, responding when needed, and educating our beachgoers.
- Nippers & youth: Teaching kids ocean awareness, teamwork and surf skills in a supportive environment.
- Training & pathways: From SRC and Bronze Medallion to First Aid, ART and Radio Ops—there’s a role for everyone.
- Community & events: We’re a welcoming hub for members, families and supporters, with a busy calendar and a friendly clubhouse.
Our story
Bilinga SLSC traces its roots to 1922, with patrols established in the late 1930s. Over the decades we’ve stayed true to the spirit of a traditional surf club: local people looking after local beaches.
Moments have shaped us. Community concern after a 1937 drowning at Bilinga helped galvanise support for a stronger lifesaving presence here, and volunteers have carried that responsibility forward ever since.
We’ve had lean years and growth spurts—like many small clubs—but we’ve kept turning up, training new members and keeping patrols on the beach. That resilience is part of who we are. Learn more here.
