NIPPERS AT BILINGA

Getting Kids Active!

Nippers is a program tailored for 5-14-year-olds and their families which fosters a dynamic environment for families to have fun and friendship and gain invaluable life skills.

Through engaging activities centered around surf safety, lifesaving techniques, and ocean skills, Nippers not only builds essential survival skills but also develops a level of camaraderie and teamwork.

These future lifesavers embark on a journey of personal development, instilling qualities of leadership that extend beyond the shoreline.

Nippers is more than a program; it is a community where lifelong friendships are formed, and the thrill of the surf is matched only by the joy of shared experiences.

What to expect on Nippers Days

On a Nipper Sunday, families gather in front of the Clubhouse at 8:45am for short announcements. Activities for the day begin at 9:00am and run for roughly 2hrs-2.5hrs, depending on the age group. Should nippers be cancelled due to severe weather or unforeseen circumstances, parents will receive an SMS or email directly from the club.

It is important to ensure that you sign your child in before nippers starts, and out before you head home. A minimum of one parent or appointed guardian per nipper family is required to always be present and assist during nipper activities. This ensures that should something occur, and your child needs first aid assistance or behaviour addressed, you are on site.

What should you bring?

  • Noddy cap – green flipper cap or club cap, depending on age group (purchased at club).
  • Pink Bilinga Rash Shirt – purchased through the club.
  • Water Bottle
  • Goggles
  • Morning Tea/snack

To purchase a noddy cap and pink rash shirt, please see our uniform coordinator or JAC.

All Nipper correspondence is through email from the club committee and JAC.

WE NEED YOUR HELP!

There are plenty of easy ways to get involved—on the beach, in the water, or behind the scenes.

Start simple as an Observer (short online course) helping with beach set-up, spotting hazards, radios or first aid; or support sessions as a Nipper Safety Assistant (low-risk water activities) while you work toward your SRC/Bronze for full water safety.

Prefer to stay dry?

Lend a hand with Age Manager support, BBQs and events, officiating at carnivals, fundraising, admin, gear checks—or even photos and social media.

We’ll help with your Blue Card (18+), training and next steps, and match roles to your time and confidence—no experience needed. Join the red-and-yellow village and make Nippers even better for your family.
